9_12_lineup-1140x1140You know music sounds good…and you know music feels good…but do you know Music Tastes Good?

Music Tastes Good came out of nowhere… or so I thought. A friend texted me a screenshot of the lineup a few months back, and before checking the location I assumed the festival was taking place in a typical festival location, like Seattle or Austin.  I was wrong.

On September 23, 24, & 25, KCRW Presents: Music Tastes Good, a three-day music and food block party taking over the streets of Downtown Long Beach. The LBC, often disregarded when it comes to music and entertainment, has pleasantly surprised music lovers from OC, LA, and most importantly, SD with their obscure and talent ridden lineup.

Starting at 5:00 pm on Friday and going till late-ish on Sunday, the all-ages outdoor festival is bringing just about every flavor of music to Downtown Long Beach.   Because, well, Music Tastes Good no matter how it is served.

We are shocked to see that Squeeze and The Specials are touring this year. We are even more shocked to see that they are playing at the same outdoor fest. On said outdoor’s fest first run. Well done, MTG!, well done.

But wait there’s more…

Iron & Wine

Sam Beam has a way with words.  The man is hard to catch, as he seems to sell out every venue and it’s about time we got to see him live!  We might cry if he plays “The Trapeze Swinger“.

P.O.S.

The Minneapolis native hasn’t played a CA show in over 2 years.  He has since released new singles, and we anticipate a new album to drop within a year.

Warpaint

These gals have a new album, Heads Up, and we are dying to see it live.

Dr. Dog

People say they sound like The Beatles but we think they sound like Dr. Dog.

We may have interrupted their show when they came to San Diego, so we promise to be on good behavior this time.

Gallant

If you haven’t heard Gallant, you will very, very soon. He’s collaborated with the likes of Jhené Aiko, Seal and Brandy. His sweet falsetto and heavy bass will make you fall to your knees and make you a fan of Bourbon and whiskey.

Sylvan Esso

This duo isn’t going away anytime soon and we have yet to hear a bad word about them. Therefore–we know it’s going to be a memorable performance.

Single day passes and three day passes are still available.  Oh, and VIP of course!

Check back next week to hear about the festival!

Special thanks to Bill Gagnon and Susie Flores.
